37H1934 – Complete MGB Overdrive Solenoid Assembly 1968-81 (4 Synchro LH Type)Â
New improved coil based on the original design which is totally encapsulated in plastic making it impervious to oil contamination and wire detachment.
This is a complete replacement solenoid assembly comprising of machined housing, coil, plunger, ball bearing, piston and o rings.
NOTE: Early LH Solenoid valve assemblies included a piston with a ‘Top Hat’ like design. This has been superseded by a flat faced piston. There is no difference in function/operation. The piston styles are interchangeable.
A delayed engagement of the overdrive on an MGB can be attributed to a failed solenoid. Breaks in the windings of the electromagnetic coil are not uncommon with earlier replacement spares being wrapped in electrical tape making them vulnerable to premature failure.
Suitable for MGBs fitted with 4 synchromesh LH Laycock overdrives (from 1967 onwards).
